1 To understand how winds can cause disasters and pose threat to humans, animals and plant life. 2 To understand the need for taking safety measures and to create awareness about WATCH and WARNING in coping with natural disasters.

Student groups to work on different areas like 1 What causes thunderstorms? 2 How a thunderstorm can turn into a cyclone? 3 Destructions caused by cyclones and 4 Need For taking effective safety measures – before, during and after the event. 5 What are tornadoes?
(1.13) Curriculum and Standards 1 Unit taken from class VII Science chapter- Winds storms and cyclones. 2 Areas covered- thunder storms, tornadoes, cyclones, and safety measures.

2.2 Grouping Strategy: Describe the criteria that will be used to form students team and how this maps to the goals of the project. 1 A team will have 7 students of mixed gender, skills and abilities. 2 Team members will be exposed to new friends. 3 Members will help, encourage and gain confidence to speak
2.3 Learning Environment: Describe the learning environment for the project including any classroom adaptation that will be required. Class room/ JSL/PBL Corners in the class and computer labs.

For each task add the product that will be created and indicate it will be a milestone. . Classroom instruction: 1. Basics of how air exerts pressure. 2. Uneven heating of land and water creates monsoon winds and how they can turn into thunderstorms and cyclones. (student groups)- Eight groups with six to seven members and each member to become a task manager of the group in rotation. 3.2 Role definitions: List the roles team members will fulfill in the project. Project leader: teacher will fulfil the role Researcher Survey writer (all students will contribute to this) Surveyor Disaster advisor: will present the team’s advice to the class Presentation author Presenter (all students will take some part in the presentation)
3.3 Task schedule: Note start and end dates for the project. Include expected dates to s start specific tasks Project start date 01August 2016 Project end date 25 th August 2016
3.4Special Activities Plan: List any special activities (e.g. Field trips or guest speakers) including dates. Mr Selvamani Sir will address the students about the role of the Disaster Management Cell set up by the State and the Central Government in the event of a disaster.

3.6 Direct Instruction: List any planned direct instruction sessions and link them to specific tasks if appropriate. Basics of weather, climate, winds, air pressure and convection currents. The use of Concept mapping.
3.7 Reviews and checkpoints: Describe how you will incorporate review meetings and checkpoints in the project Every second day there will be a 20 minutes class conference to discuss progress, successes and challenges. A checkpoint meeting for each team will be held for 10 minutes twice after the fourth day. .
3.8 Assessment plan: Describe the balanced assessment plan for the project. List products that will be assessed during the project. List rubrics that need to be created before project launch. A uthentic assessment will include: the concept mapping, kit making, results, videos and informatin presenting disaster advice briefings. Formative assessment will primarily focus on the artefacts created by the students during the project. Special attention will be paid to survey prototypes, learning journals and presentation outlines. Summative assessments will be performed on the results, presentations on the importance of knowing the concept behind the formation of such disasters which are not in our control but we can minimise the damaging effects of such disasters thro ugh awareness ,and alertness and the portfolios of work.
